What this program is, in plain English
The Senior Farmers' Market Nutrition Program gives people 60 and older coupons, or in many states a card, to spend on fresh fruit, vegetables, herbs, and honey at approved farmers markets, roadside stands, and community supported agriculture programs. The benefit is modest but it is free food, and it is separate from SNAP, so having SNAP does not disqualify you. Benefits are usually handed out starting in late spring and expire at the end of the growing season, so it is worth calling your Area Agency on Aging in April or May to ask when yours opens.

A seasonal produce benefit, typically between $30 and $50 per person per season, with some states offering more.
